A Need for a Reformed and Presbyterian Church

There is diversity in Lake County’s community of people, industries, and education opportunities.  Christianity is variously expressed by many churches and there are many other religious groups present in the county. Yet these various options reveal a tension underlying modern society.  While diversity is good and brings people together the temptation is to ignore important and needful distinctions.  The temptation is to make everything relative to the individual.  The end result of this relativism is that everything has less meaning for all.

Some 48% of the people in Lake County, Ohio do not attend a church or identify themselves with one.  Of the 52% that do so, nearly 68% of them identify themselves with the Roman Catholic Church.  People associated with mainline Protestant churches comprise about 16% and only 13% of people identify themselves as evangelical.  Specifically, less than 1% of those that attend a church identify themselves as Presbyterian and those churches have compromised the great truths of the reformed faith and confessions.

We believe that God has given universal spiritual truth in his word, the Bible.  We believe that there are important distinctions that historic Presbyterian and Reformed people have stood for.  We believe that these reformed and Presbyterian distinctives are the roots of America’s great strengths of freedom, service, and duty.  We believe that Lake County would be strengthened by a church that unashamedly teaches the biblical good news of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.  We believe that such a church would be blessed by God and that lives, families, and even society would be transformed to their created purpose to glory God and fulfill mankind’s deepest desires.
