Our Beliefs

An outreach of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church for the founding of a reformed and Presbyterian church in Lake County, Ohio

A Church that is clear about its Faith:

We believe the Bible to be God’s inerrant and inspired word (II Timothy 3:16,17).  From this formal principle of the reformation flow all the doctrinal truths common to biblical Presbyterian and Reformed churches found in the Westminster Confession of Faith and catechisms We believe that God made covenant promises in his word.  We believe that God kept his promises to Adam and Eve, to Abraham, to Israel, and to David that he would send the Christ (Messiah) to be the savior of the world.  We believe that Jesus Christ, the very Son of God, took to himself a human life, lived a perfectly righteous life, died, and was raised from the dead that the promise to Abraham might upon all who believe in Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:13,14).  We believe the promises of Christ that his perfect obedience and sacrificial death satisfied God’s just demands against our sin if we trust and obey Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.  We believe that no one can save himself from the curse of sin and the wrath of God due to it.  Our only hope is in the grace of God alone by faith alone.

We believe that public worship should be Christ centered.  God made all of his creation to glorify him (Revelation 4:11).  We glorify God most when we worship him as he instructed us in his word, the Bible.  Our worship and praise should focus on him (John 4:23,24). Because God speaks to us by his word, worship should climax with Christ exalting expository preaching.  Because Jesus Christ is our only Prophet, Priest, and King, his is our only mediator before God. You are invited to join us in reverent and holy worship.

We believe that a church should exhibit caring covenant fellowship.  God wants his people to enjoy him forever.  To that end, God made a covenant with believers in Jesus Christ that they receive his blessings (Galatians 3:13-18).  By this covenant in Jesus Christ believers are brought into a relationship with God and with one another.  We seek to nurture a church wide fellowship that is family oriented, supportive, and caring by including all believers into the whole covenant family of God.  You are invited to join God’s covenant family.

A Church that is clear about its Mission:

We believe in life changing evangelism.  We believe that God effectually calls men, women, and children out of their sin by the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin, enlightens us in the knowledge of Christ and renews our wills (John 16:5-15). We boldly proclaim that all people must repent of their sin and believe in Jesus Christ.  We believe that all of life must be brought under the Lordship of Christ and that Christ’s spiritual kingdom will triumph over the entire world.  You are invited to come and to share our commitment to advancing Christ’s kingdom through prayer, word, and deed in our community and throughout the world.

We believe Biblical and practical teaching produces true Christian growth.  We are committed to faithfully teaching the whole message of the whole Bible to the whole person.  Growth must be matured God’s way.  Elders called by Christ and elected by the congregation provide training and corrective oversight for the spiritual life of the church.  Spiritual growth is also nurtured by compassionate ministry to others.  You are invited to come and to grow with us.

Won’t you join us?
